Family Health Assessment Darcy Martin Grand Canyon University: NRS-429V, Family Centered Health Promotion 10/19/14 ââ¬Å"Holism and the totality of the personââ¬â¢s interactions with the environment form the philosophical foundations of Gordonââ¬â¢s functional health patterns. This foundation provides a context for collecting data that provide information about the entire person and most life processes. She also walks one hour each day on what she describes as a mountain trail with lots of change in elevation. She states that she is fortunate not to have any injuries or medical problems that would impede her ability to exercise. Being active and exercising re gularly is beneficial not only for muscle and joint mobility, it is also beneficial to the heart, lungs and circulatory system. From a cognitive aspect, learning something new is best done through discussion or physically performing a task. It was stated that at her age, she doesnââ¬â¢t feel like she does a lot of learning. When questioned about memory and concentration, it was revealed that her memory is ââ¬Å"spottyâ⬠. Family members interjected during this part of the discussion that her memory was more selective than spotty. Giving the example that she could remember the address of where she lived in college, but could not remember what she ate for dinner the night before. Even though difficulty with memory seems somewhat of a concern from a nursing perspective, she nor her family members had concerns about significant memory problems. Concentration was not of concern either. She stated that it is easy to sit down and concentrate on a task.
